Garapa
PURE & STRONG
With the use of Garapa hardwood, we give our products a natural look. All our hardwood has durability class 2 and lasts up to 25 years. Because of this high durability class, the wood doesn’t require any treatment. The wood greys over time. This does not affect the quality.
All our products in which wood is processed are produced in collaboration with Awood. They are an FSC certified organization. Which means that all the wood they use comes from responsibly managed forests.

HEAVY & IMPACT-RESISTANT
Savrame is a newer thermally modified hardwood that is more impact-resistant than many other modified wood types. This makes it extremely suitable for horizontal installation, such as on the street furniture of FURNS.

NATURALLY STABLE
Kebony is an environmentally friendly, patented process that enhances the properties of sustainable softwood using a bio-based liquid. The process permanently alters the wood cell walls, giving Kebony premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown color in two basic steps.
The dual modification process involves impregnating softwood (usually pine) with a bio-based liquid derived from agricultural waste, followed by a heating process. This ensures that the wood's cellular structure is permanently changed, giving it properties similar to those of tropical hardwood.

NATURAL & SUSTAINABLE
Bamboo elements are becoming more and more common, also in our products. The material is an excellent alternative to tropical hardwood. Bamboo grows faster, so it can be harvested earlier. Forests of tropical hardwood take 60 to 120 years to recover from the logging process, while bamboo can be harvested every 4 to 6 years. The plant recovers quickly. In fact, regular felling of a bamboo forest is even necessary.

SUSTAINABLY IMPROVED
Accoya has the natural light color with decorative fine grain patterns that you expect from pine wood. Through modification, the material acquires the properties of hardwood while retaining the appearance of pine wood. Beautiful, hard, and durable.
Softwoods like pine are made more durable at Accoya through the acetylation process. This process uses acetic acid and heat to transform the 'soft' wood into a naturally durable building material with the highest hardness. Since the fast-growing pines used come from sustainable forestry, this is a renewable building resource that also stores significant amounts of CO2.

SECOND LIFE
Wood that has already completed a full life cycle is used once again. We give it a second life by incorporating it into our street furniture.
The end of the life cycle of wood in a specific structural application does not mean the material is completely discarded. In practice, for example, sheet piling can still be effectively used for applications in furniture and facade cladding after replacement. The reused wood is then tailored and planed to suit the intended application in our collection. By upcycling the used wood, we avoid tapping into new resources.
